March is Disability Awareness Month in Indiana. This year's theme is "Cultivate Inclusion."

Free performance on Ball State campus for Women's Week 2011.  This monologue-style play is an original work incorporating true stories from men and women about how abortion has affected their lives.

Since November, 2010, volunteers have been contributing content for the zine Life Marked.  Now it’s finished and time to celebrate this unique contribution to Women’s Week.

This is an exhibition of artworks made by current faculty and staff in the Dpartment of Art at Ball State. A broad range of media will be presented. Reception: Thursday, September 1 from 4:00-6:00 pm

This exhibit will be open until September 17th. 

Les Folies Intoxique

A Belly Dance Gala show featuring belly dance legend Leila Gamal.  Local Dancers and belly dancers from all over the mid west will join us for a gala show with many different styles of belly dance.  The show will be in the Arts and Journalism building in AJ175 (in the Atrium) at Ball State University. Doors open at 7:30, and show will begin at 8:00.

Artworks of monumental physical scale are overwhelming. The diminutive viewer is confronted and consumed by the gigantic. Presented with the miniature, the viewer, no longer assigned to the passive role, could instead devour the work, taking it into his or her soul. This collection of miniature books invites the viewer into a personal and intimate relationship with attention drawn to the significance of the seemingly insignificant -- the momentousness of the miniscule is magnified into monumental value. Feature documentary on media, women, and power

Join us for a screening of the documentary "The Nature of Existence" by Roger Nygard.

The screening will take place Friday, April 20th at 7:00pm in the Arts and Journalism Building, Room 289. After the movie there will be a Skype conversation/Q&A with the film's creator.

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 15 minutes, claiming more than 36,000 lives each year. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students, and the third for youth ages 15-24, with adolescent depression -undiagnosed, untreated or both- as the number one cause.
The Out of the Darkness Campus Walks are 3-5 mile walks taking place in communities across the country, with the proceeds benefitting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). By walking in the Out of the Darkness Campus Walks, you will be walking with thousands of students nationwide to raise money for AFSP's vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, increase national awareness about depression and suicide and provide support for survivors of suicide loss. Eric King Watts will examine how this genre is preoccupied with "end-of-days" fantasies that feed the motives of extreme preparedness groups. In particular, the talk will focus on "Zombie Preppers," a docudrama produced and aired on Discovery Channel as an example of how the genre composes a zombie outbreak as plausible. Lastly, the talk speculates on the potential communicative impacts brought about by repetitive exposure and intense consumption of the genre.

Troubled by pictures of police teargassing and arresting journalists in Ferguson, Missouri? Perplexed by the police detention of a student photographer on the Purdue campus?

What more do we need to know? And what can law enforcement officers and journalists do to create a better working relationship, especially in times of stress?
