Muncie Resists Workers Over Billionaires Labor Day Protest
11am to 1pm @
Fallen Heroes Memorial Bridge
525 N High St, Muncie, IN 47305
Labor and community are planning more than a barbecue on Labor Day this year because we have to stop the billionaire takeover. Billionaires are converting the government into their private slush fund and just passed the largest wealth giveaway in the history of the US. The money they take from working families, they put in billionaires’ pockets and set aside to fund a private army of ICE agents.
Just like any bad boss, the way we stop the takeover is with collective action. We are working people rising up to stop the billionaire takeover–not just through the ballot box or the courts, but through building a bigger and stronger movement. We are growing our movement and fighting for a country that is more fair, just, equitable, and free for all of us—and not just a chosen few.
On September 1st we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people.
Thousands of communities across the country are taking a stand on Labor Day, join us! We will be in the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms, and at congressional offices. Together we will demand a country that puts workers over billionaires.
OUR DEMANDS TO BUILD THE SOCIETY WE ALL DESERVE:
Stop the billionaire takeover corrupting our government.
Protect and defend Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs for working people.
Fully funded schools, and healthcare and housing for all.
Stop the attacks on immigrants, Black, indigenous, trans people, and all our communities.
Invest in people not wars.
Please note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

White River Cleanup 8am to 12pm @ Starting at Westside Park
Annual White River Cleanup - September 24th
Roll up your sleeves (and pants!) - Our river needs YOU!
The White River is calling, and it's time for our biggest cleanup of the year! But let's be honest about what we're asking: this isn't your typical "stay clean and dry" volunteer gig. To really make a difference for our river, we need volunteers who are ready to get wet, muddy, and maybe a little smelly – all in the name of protecting our community's most prominent natural resource.
📅 Date: September 24th
⏰ Time: 8:00 am
📍 Location: Westside Park - You'll see us.What We REALLY Need:
Volunteers who aren't afraid to:
- Wade into shallow water
- Get muddy boots (and maybe muddy everything else)
- Pull stubborn debris from riverbanks
- Work hard for a cause that matters
CREW LEADERS ESPECIALLY NEEDED!
Have you helped with a cleanup before? We need you to step up and lead a team! Our crew leader requirements are simple: past cleanup attendance + quick online training = you're qualified to make an impact. Leadership experience not required – just enthusiasm and reliability. Why Your River Needs This:
Every year, debris flows into the White River, harming wildlife and degrading the waterway that's central to our community's identity. University students often join us (thank you!), but river cleanup is different from roadside cleanup – it requires volunteers who understand that protecting our environment sometimes means embracing the mess.
What We Provide:
- Work gloves
- Safety vests (hi-vis)
- Floatation vests for canoe crews
- Canoes!
- All cleanup supplies
- Safety briefing and guidance
- Post-cleanup refreshments
- The satisfaction of seeing immediate results
What You Provide:
- Willingness to get dirty for a great cause
- Old clothes you don't mind ruining
- A commitment to our community's environmental health
This cleanup is part of our year-round mission to beautify and protect our community's natural spaces. When you're pulling a tire from the riverbank or clearing debris from a fishing hole, you're not just cleaning – you're preserving the White River for future generations.
Ready to get muddy for a good cause? Sign up as a volunteer or crew leader – our river is counting on people who understand that the best environmental work happens when you're willing to literally dive in.
