In 1972, athletes from around the globe gathered in Munich, Germany for the Olympic Games. However, the Olympic spirit of brotherhood and peaceful competition was shattered when eight Palestinian terrorists invaded the athletes' quarters to take the Israeli team hostage, resulting in the violent deaths of eleven athletes. In One Day in September, director Kevin Macdonald mixes newsreel coverage of the tragedy with interviews of witnesses and participants (including Jamil Al Gashey, the only surviving member of the terrorist cadre Black September who were responsible for the killings), as they discuss what happened, and how a dangerous situation turned tragic and deadly . Produced by two-time Oscar winner Arthur Cohn,One Day in September earned Cohn another trophy when it received an Academy Award as Best Documentary Feature.

Sketching in the Museum Drop in and sketch at the David Owsley Museum of Art! Try drawing different works of art in our galleries. All students, faculty and community members are invited. Ball State University Fine Arts League members provide support on Fridays at 3 pm as available. A limited number of large drawing boards, plus stools and pencils are provided. Visitors are welcome to sketch at other times, too. In partnership with the Ball State University Fine Arts League and Art Department. Check-in at the Front Desk to locate the group.

Mikey recorded a geek rock/comedy album (Impotent Nerd Rage) and decided that the songs needed to be played live with a full band at least once.

To this end, he assembled the mighty Electric Monks (Jason Tompkins-Bass, Scott Lindell -Guitar, Sean Smith-Guitar and Vocals, Joy Johnson-Drums and Vocals.)

At 9pm on Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Fickle Peach in beautiful, downtown Muncie, IN, Mikey and the Electric Monks will make their inaugural (and possibly only) public appearance, performing material from and related to the Impotent Nerd Rage Album. This show will be recorded (in case it really does never happen again...)

The film follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Muniz is represented in the Ball State University Museum of Art collection with Seville Orange, Silver Goblet, Apples, Pear, and Two Bottles, After Chardin. (99 minutes, 2011) Brown Study Room. Tonal Caravan (Muncie, IN) is an "organic jam rock funk fusion americana foot stomping hoedown psychedelic improv collection of groove troops".

Boogie Matrix (Toledo, OH) is a "5-piece jam-machine, playing a mix of funk, blues-rock, reggae and psychedelia which is guaranteed to make you move your feet.  Aside from their eclectic range of styles, and face-melting jams, they are dedicated to rocking your socks off every time.  With six years and three albums under their belt, they know just how to throw a dance party."

Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, Indiana Michigan Power Company and The PhyXTGears Robotics Team will host a New Year’s Eve Celebration on December 31 starting at 11:30pm.

Located at Charles and Walnut St., we invite community members to come downtown for their own New Year’s Eve celebration. Live footage of the NYC Times Square celebration will be displayed on a large screen in preparation for the countdown to 2012. Downtown Muncie will have its own “Time Square” ball drop and fireworks at midnight. This is a family friendly and alcohol free event.

Before the ball drops, Make an evening of it Downtown. Join us for dinner at White River Landing, paint your own pottery at The Artist Within, studio fee is only $10 for a family of four or $5 per person.  Muncie YWCA will provide a free swim for families from 8:30-9:30 with crafts and activities from 9:30-11:30.  It's good to be here!

Based on the novel by Cathy Day and adapted for the stage by Beth Turcotte and students from the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry, The Circus in Winter is the story of the passion beneath the big top. Join Wallace Porter, a stable owner from Indiana, as he falls in love and searches for his life's work, a journey that culminates in the purchase of his own circus. Filled with fantastic characters, heart-rending moments of love an loss, and extraordinary new music, The Circus in Winter is a feast for the eyes, ears, and heart.
