It’s dusty and jangly and the kind of Midwest rock that’s as equally influenced by Tom Petty and The Replacements as the alt-country of the early ’90s like Wilco, Jayhawks, and Whiskeytown. It’s a perfect combination of twangy blues and rough n’ tumble rock n’ roll.

The Fort Wayne quartet of Mike Neglia (guitar/vocals), Jack Wellington (bass), Ben Francis (keyboard), and Delaney Rice (drums), who took over for Alex Gleason, have just dropped their debut, Inside Job. It’s a fully formed document of what Mike Neglia & The Nobles are all about: thoughtful and introspective rock songs that are easy to lock into and relate to.

Indiana native and hardcore troubadour Mike Martin has spent much of the last decade traveling in a van with his appropriately named band, The Beautiful Mess. A bona fide honky-tonk hero, there is scarcely a Lowcountry juke joint or music venue where Martin has not held court in recent years. Weaving country-rock infusions, Martin’s distinctive output embodies what Gram Parsons of The Byrds once described as “cosmic American music".
